Rustic Star Wreath using ColorBox® Chalk Ink

Rustic Star Wreath using ColorBox® Chalk Ink
Designed by Midge & Madge

  • ColorBox® Chalk Paintbox: Cornucopia
  • Walnut Hollow Wooden Star
  • Wooden Sentiment
  • Grapevine Wreath
  • Burlap Bow
  • Hot Glue Gun

  1. Remove the Red Barn color from the Paintbox and begin tapping directly on the wooden star. Gentle and repeated tapping will ink the star surface without damaging the inkpad. Continue tapping until one full section has been inked in this color.
  2. Repeat step 1 with Pumpkin Spice, Butter, Dark Moss and Mint until each of the five star sections have been inked. Allow to dry.
  3. Remove the Dark Brown color from the Paintbox and ink the wooden sentiment, using the same tapping technique from step 1. Allow to dry.
  4. Position the star on the grapevine wreath and glue into place.
  5. Position the wooden sentiment on the star and glue into place.
  6. Glue the burlap bow to the wreath, above the top point of the star.

  • Repeatedly tapping the inkpad to the wood in the same spot will result in a richer, more saturated covering. For this project the artists chose not to evenly cover the wood, resulting in a more rustic look.
  • Use a clear, spray sealant to protect the color, if the wreath will be placed in an outdoor setting.
